Estonian Minister of Social Affairs, Mr Marko Pomerants, welcomed conference participants and spoke of governments activities in supporting Estonian family life

Conference participants were also welcomed by Mr Ants Eglon (President) and Mrs Urve Randmaa (Vice-President) on behalf of Vitality of Estonia the conferences host organisation
Professor Elena Zdravomyslova (European University at St Petersburg) made a keynote presentation dealing with the changes which had taken place in Russian family life in the past ten years.
Professor Rose Zoe-Obianga (Yaounde University, Cameroon) and Mr Martin Koschorke (EZF, Berlin) presented two challenging perspectives on family life in their countries during a keynote session.
Participants from nineteen countries provided a highly appreciative audience for the keynote speakers.
Professor Dagmar Kutsar (Tartu University, Estonia) (seen here in the centre) presented a keynote paper which examined the demographic indicators of change in family formation and made comparisons between the former socialist (transitional) countries and the 15 EU countries.
Mealtimes allowed participants to exchange views with people from other countries and other professions.
At the end of the conference Vitality of Estonia arranged a coach trip into the countryside which included wonderful singing by the Estonian Teachers Male Choir with their conductor Tõnu Kuljus. An open air meal followed with more singing and celebration of a Board members birthday. Thank you Estonia!
